Bradley Welsh was a 42 years old British actor known for starring T2 Trainspotting. He was also a former boxer. Welsh died following a shooting near his home in Edinburgh, Scotland on Wednesday, April 17th, 2019.

Welsh was also a former British ABA Lightweight boxing champion. He was featured on the Bravo docuseries, “Danny Dyer’s Deadliest Men” in 2009. Before catching his big break on ‘Trainspotting 2’, Bradley wasn’t even an actor.
Bradley biggest film success came playing a gangland boss in the “Trainspotting” sequel. His character owned a couple of seedy saunas around Edinburgh.
Welsh appeared as the kingpin Doyle in Danny Boyle’s 2017 sequel to his classic 1996 film Trainspotting. It was his first professional acting role.
In a 2017 interview with The Sun, he spoke about his “criminal past as a young football hooligan” and how he changed his life around.
“I then went to prison for extortion and firearms and all that stuff,” he said at the time. “But for the last 20 years, I’ve run boxing gyms and organized big charity events in Edinburgh.”
Welsh was also involved in charity projects for young adults in the city to help them stay fit and out of trouble through his Holyrood Boxing Gym, according to Edinburgh Live.
Death and Cause
Welsh died following a shooting near his home in Edinburgh, Scotland on 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 17th, 2019. He was found “seriously injured in the street and sadly passed away at the scene,” according to a statement by the Edinburgh Police Division on Facebook.

“His death is being treated as suspicious and inquiries are continuing,” the statement continued. “Officers will continue to provide a high-visibility presence in the area to engage with the public, offer reassurance and gather any information that can assist with this investigation.”
The statement further read, “Anyone who believes they have any relevant information should contact police immediately.”
Lawyer Ryan Macready paid his respects writing, “Devastating news about Brad Welsh tonight, a huge character in Scottish amateur boxing and the Hibernian support and someone who contributed a great deal to society through his charitable work and boxing gym. RIP.”
