Andrzej Trzos-Rastawiecki is dead
Director Gazeta Wyborcza informed the director about the director’s death . Andrzej Trzos-Rastawiecki was born on June 23, 1933 in Lviv as the son of a notary and violinist. He graduated from the Cracow Polytechnic and the Directing Department of the PWSTiF in Łódź . He earned a diploma in film in 1964, but his first film works date back to 1960. The Trzost-Rastawiecki workshop was characterized by a combination of the plot and the document , which was manifested, inter alia, by the interweaving of archival materials into the works .

During his creative work, he created over 20 documents and 10 plots. The most famous title of the filmmaker was the movie “Wherever you are, Mr. President …” telling about Stefan Starzyński, organizing the civil defense of the bombed Warsaw. He also created the series “Marshal Pitsudski” , films about John Paul II “Pilgrim” and “Credo” , as well as “Pawiak” and “Enigma” . The last film by Andrzej Trzos-Rastawiecki was “The Ballad about a real lie” from 2007. . He was awarded many prizes, including the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta awarded by President Bronisław Komorowski . He also got statuettes at numerous film festivals.
